Thread: fans not working, relay testable? ideas?

yup niether of my fans work, so im GUESSING its the relay. is the relay testable? if so, what values should i be looking for? and what settings should i use on my multimeter? im guessing just a resistance test? but what values?

any other ideas?

I like to test relays by checking for discontinuity across the switch, then applying 12v to the gate and testing for continuity across the switch. *shrug*

My fan relay(s) are dead too I think. One of the first things I need to check out when I get back in the car fixing mood.

just supply power to the 85 and 86 terminals and see if the switched terminals 30 and 87 (or 87a) get continuity. Standard procedure to test any relay. If continuity changes when you supply power, it's good.
