Something Happened!!! :(
I was driving my daily today, 94 se-r. I got on the highway and rev'ed out 2nd gear to 7500rpms and shifted into third and then my car sounds like a motorcycle or subaru now. Thought the motor was done, no smoke, oil is fine, coolant is fine, spark plug wires look to be connected good. I didn't have much time to look at it or check anything out I just know it sounds like shit and has like no power at all.

So my question is what are the possibilities here for what is wrong? My conclusions are:

Timing chain jumped
spark plugs got messed up
fuel injectors messed up
detonation

Now there is not really a smell of anything, but a tiny bit of gas. The car idles fine, decelerates fine, very low power (feels like a GA), and backfires between shifts.

My buddy thought maybe a rocker came loose, but I would think it would be noisy as shit if that happened. The motor sounds no different besides the missing happening. No ticking or anything like that. Help me out SR FORUM!! Thanks!

Well, my car turned into a Subaru not long ago. The cause ended up being an injector died...Easy to test with a 9 volt battery though

A rocker would be very noisy and noticeable.

If its an injector, and they are stock, let me know and I can send you one if needed free of charge.

A rocker won't necessarily be noisy if it did not come completely loose or break. I had one kick the shims off but it was still seated at an angle. Very strange.

After you check your injectors/dizzy, if you have not found the problem pop the valve cover just to be sure. It happened to me in a situation similar to yours, producing the same unhealthy scoobie sound.

Injector would be the first thing I would check. Also, try cleaning your spark plugs wire(depends on brand).

First check the spark plugs just to see how they look, this is the easiest thing to do and can give you an idea of which injector to check first. Everytime mine sounds like that its from a spark plug wire that popped off which is a simple fix, just pop it back on but as everyone else said more than likely its going to be a injector.

Injector for sure. It happened to my G20 about 2 weeks ago. for me, the 3rd one needed to be replaced.

I would guess the injectors, too, unplug one injector at a time with it running. You will know real fast.Whichever doesnt change the way the motor idles when disconnected is the bad one.
