Thread: Transmission. Top off or drain and refill?

I believe I have a 98 non lsd trans in my car, I went to check how much gear oil was in there and I didn't feel any (well as far as my finger could reach). Should I just top it off with mt90, or drain and refill with mt90? the trans holds 3.75 quarts right?

I would drain it just because you have no clue whats in there or how much or what it looks like. It sounds like its low anyways? Yes the tranny holds 3.75 quarts. Send me a pic of the tranny to my cell and i'll tell you what it is.

usually when filling up a manual trans you fill it from the fill plug until it starts to come out. for piece of mind id change it. cant beat 1/2 gallon of gl-4 fluid at napa for like 15 bucks.

I'm going to use the mt90, it felt pretty good in my other car with the lsd, but this car has a ve and no lsd

Damn I need gear oil badd I got a crack in my tranny I'm trying to seal..wish I could afford that good stuff
