problem 1, pull spark plugs and check them just to make sure those are still good

I would check compression that right there will answer big questions and it is easy to do.

more than likely you threw the rockers. for one throwing the rockers wont not give you spark. i did the same on my old n/a se-r 7750rpms in third into second estimated 11k+ rpms. Not good. i threw out all the rockers except 1. All were shattered into pieces. that was fun cleaning up with a magnet. got all the pieces out and put new rockers in and it fired right up with no consequenses to the motor. Performed just as good as always. BTW this was with a set of JWT S3's in there also. i doubt he hit the valves guys. not likely being that i dont ever recall any post about misshifting and hitting the valves other than one. Just pop the valve cover and take a look. you will be able to tell what happened. dont crank the motor over any more until you do. thats just more damage that can happen to your cam lobes.

Pull the Valve cover.

I hate to bring it up but if the motor is spinning easy and continuous (think sewing machine) theres no compression that means bent valves (it's usually the intake side)

If the rockers are just scattered about then the cam can't actuate the valves so the motor would turn over more slowly/labored as the valves natural state is to be closed, if they are bent you will hear compression (hissing/popping) in the intake manifold.

I have had a co-driver mis-shift and it bent all the intake side valves (2 times!) and in a separate incident I had a timing chain tensioner fail and toss the rockers.

Once the VC is off you will know more, get a magnet to pick up the shims and guides and make sure you can account for them all, as they can fit into the oil passages in the head and end up in the pan.

Post a pic or two when you pull the VC and we can help you out more.

once again i have no idea how the hell you dont realize your going from 3rd to second and catch it ontime unless they are racing. i have done this maybe 3 times since i had my car under normal driving conditions and i always catch it before it even hits 6k on my motor. quick shift back to 3rd or 4th and im on my way...

like everyone says pull the cover off and check

Hey it happens I was driving my car quite fast and went from 4th right back into 3rd. Sycros did not even fight me. Chances are that it is what most are saying just the rocker arms and shims. You may not have thrown more then one or two believe it or not. I reved to 11.000 RPM + myself and I only lost two. Coarse I stayed at this RPM for literally mili secs because I actually relized it was going back into 3rd right as it did. I really should not be that big a deal just some down time. I took my miss shift as an opurtunity to go VE witch I now am based on the DE having 232,000 + miles on here. I think I am going to rebuild my DE and turbo it for fun. Oh yeah you dont have to but it is a good idea considering you have to pull the cams. Just replace all the rockers with new ones if you can afford it. The new rockers will actually open the valves fractions more due never having been worn. All new ones and you may even gain a pony or 2. Good luck.

I think the No spark issue is secondary to what happened under the VC.

It should only take a few min to pull off, its just the nuts surrounding the VC and the one in the spark valley.

The distributor is driven by the end of the exhaust cam, but you would hear noise if it had snapped a cam.
