So who do I trust?
Autometer on dash or DVM on battery?
No load:

Lights on and load:

Gauge seems way more likely to be off than a dvm man.

Trust the DVM. Needle could be off on the gauge, or there could be a crappy connection somewhere for it.

That goes to tell you guys, you may not be as low as you think.
Has anyone ever tapped their Autometer from the battery?

DVM. You have resistance in any wires that you run to your gauge that throws off your readings.

Volt meter for sure. Possibly a bad ground connection for the gauge or even a bad positive connection.

Or the gauge could be telling what is making it into your car. I bet if you tapped the source of the gauge with the dvm they would be similar.

That gauge is off dude. It's just from the voltage drop due to the wire size and it being low voltage. Try regrounding and cleaning the connections for your gauge.

I do not remember where I tapped, but it is an ign on switch somewhere. Lol

"trust but verify"
the gauge is more suspect than the meter.
