Bad transmission leak, Wheel bearing going out.
Could a wheel bearing thats going bad cause a huge transmission leak? I go out to leave and notice some tire marks that looks like they ran over oil... Looked under my car and there was a puddle of oil maybe 1 ft wide and 2 ft long =\ I can't tell where its coming from due to it being BRAND new oil and its not black or anything =\

Oh yeah when I took off the hub and the axle nut the hub piece just fell off and the inside of the bearing was exposed =\

No bad wheel bearings will not cause a leak.

Did you put in new axle seals when replacing the clutch. Was the wheel bearing bad before you replaced the clutch or did it just go bad after the clutch replacement?

Well when I was taking out the axles to change the clutch the hub piece fell off and half of the wheel bearing is in and half is out type of thing... Can't a bad wheel bearing cause the axle to creep out and cause a leak? I have about 2-3 in of back and forth play in the tire, maybe more.

So you didn't replace the wheel bearing, and which side, driver or passenger? Did you replace the axle seals when doing the clutch?

Is the whole wheel moving in and out(hub, rotor, and caliper), or is it a bunch of play in the tie rod end/s.

Well move the tire the caliper stays in the same place but the rotor and tire moves. It's the driver side. I didn't replace the seals, sorry I didn't answer that last time.

Axle seals would be no problem for me to change... I would estimate only 2 hours for both which is better than the 16 I did on changing the clutch.. Changing the clutch almost took up more time than I spent painting my car... (sanding, even everything out, coats)

I just did my clutch and didn't replace the axle seals and I have no leeks. If you were careful when removing the axles they should be fine. Did you tighten the drain and fill plugs properly? You should have heard the wheel bearing making a screeching noise if it was that bad.

It's not that its bad its that it fell apart so its not seating properly. It sort of makes this noise like brakes high pitched screech when just driving normal.

Just to clarify, there is no way anything in the hub will cause a leak, as there's safeguards on both axles to prevent them from 'creeping' out. Namely the support bearing on the passenger axle and the circlip on the end of the driver's axle that you have to fight with all the time.

Usually I thought the axle would go in somewhat hard but it seemed to just slide on smoothly... It stayed in after it was in but was smooth to go in... Hmm! Going to pick up a new wheel bearing right now and I'll have to install it when I upgrade my brakes...
