i know it can be done with metal..but can it be done with plastics?

Technically, no. Chrome plating is a chemical process done to protect metals, which works on metal only because it must be electrically applied and the chemical bonds won't happen with plastic.

You can simulate the look with paint however. We had a thread about it a long time ago with a video of someone doing it on some motorcycle body parts in a paint booth. I can't find it however.

yea, cuz the mini has more chrome than i like and i wanted to tone it down..

you could always thry the vht night shades over the chrome....i did this over my oem nissan chrome plastic badgesa...looked sick

There's a process called vacuum metalizing that is for plastics. From what I've seen it's quite expensive unless you're doing bulk pieces.

I know this is out there but you can powdercoat it. If they have the color you need in PC, try it. If its abs, or whatever polymer they use to make oem wheel caps and other parts it will work.

i thought duplicolor had a set of paints just for this.
