Motor Mounts??
Ever since I've had my car, when quickly stepping on the gas or letting off of it there is a little bit of a jerk, the shifter also moves with this jolt. I'd say the shift knob moves maybe 1/6-1/4". Is this normal? I assume not, and assume it would be my motor mounts. I don't exactly know what to look for when looking at my mounts, there is no cracking in them or anything like that that I can see? It's never really bothered me much, but if it is shot motor mounts, I don't know if this is something I need to take care of asap or if I can take my time with it...?

lmk what you think.

In my new car I have urethane inserts on my mounts and my shifter moves still, it could be the shifter bushings (can you pull your shifter straight up?) , try putting a board on top of your jack and jack the engine up that will tell you if you mounts are bad, it might just be some play in the mounts or an axle joint

It's not the shifter bushings. There is noticeable feedback in the form of a slight jolt when quickly stepping on or letting off of the gas.

Our stock mounts suck. No two ways around it. They won't hold a stock DE for long before they need to be replaced.

Tranny/motor movement is detrimental to the reliability of your tranny. Wheel hop sucks. B13 tranny cases can crack fairly easily. If they merely flex, you can shred gears.

Prothanes are an inexpensive and immediate fix. The urethane should last forever. As an added bonus, they will also give you an increase in your handling. No motor/tranny movement means no weight-shift under hard driving. Ask Porsche about having stiff motor/tranny mounts under acceleration and high-g loads.

Look at the rear mount real good.Thats usually the first mount I change on any sr car I have owned.Just putting a prothane there,ES inset,or even fill it with windowweld at the very least is a nice improvement.
Also the rubber shifter pivot bushing could be getting worn.I alway do this mod when I put in a shortshifter. It is a "while you are in there" thing.LOL

If you do all prothane mounts and the ES stabilizer bushing, the car will feel WAY better.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I'll be ordering some prothanes when i get back out to the midwest.

& Jay I'm getting an envelope in the mail for you tomorrow, sorry I'm a bit late getting this one out, work just has my sleep twisted with all these overnights, and the PO is closed today.

I installed prothanes on mine a year or so ago, 99% of the time
I'm pleased with them. Still can feel everything flexing while trying
slip the unsprung 6 puck in traffic, but hopefully I'll turn that into
a pimp ninja throwing star soon and install an appropriate clutch for
my driving style.

OP, I have two of the prothane mount you'll need sitting in my pile of type-RRR
shit in my garage. You can have em, I dont need them anymore and I'm not here
to make money off you guys. I have one 14-501 and the oval shaped one for the front.
I'm going out of town this week and I work a shitload of hours so the soonest I would be able to drop them off for shipping will probably be like Feb. 3rd or so. You are more than welcome to them though, just let me know.
