Woah, it's squirting out from right in the middle of the that high pressure line. I thought it might be a copper washer or joint that was to blame. It looks to be a rip in the rubber section though.

You're looking for a used one of those hoses now. New OEM is going to be quite expensive. Get a new hose and install it and you'll be fine. Double check that the hose is the actual source of the leak, but it looks pretty definitive to me.

It's clearly not meant to have a breather there. What was it hooked up to before? I don't recall my b14 stock oil separator having a hose there.

Will, it's not an oil separator (okay well it might be but it's not part of the normal PCV system). It's part of a different system which I think is responsible for some types of emissions. I've never had it on my car so I'm not familiar with it. Miko has a good thread about it, and why it's not really beneficial to remove it. For sure, it shouldn't have that breather filter there though. Good catch.

I can't even remember what the system is called to search for it. IAVC or something... It was on '91 and '92 engines I think. Maybe on '93 as well?

Haha yeah watch the vid! It's like a pin hole thing that squirts it all out on the engine!

It goes to the stock air box and when you remove the air box you remove that also.. When I bought it, it was already out with the knn filter on it

haha... man this is a funny thread. Started with a dipstick, then found out the real cause hehe...

If you are at the yard, and you grab that large p/s hose. Get yourself an extra p/s pump as well. If you level went low and its making noise, it could be on its way out... and nissan wasn't smart enough to incorporate a seperate belt loop for the water pump like on the 240's... That pump seizes, you are effed.

Ask me how I know...

Oh right, it's on my nx. The black box does do some oil separating I believe... Isn't there a tube that runs from the crank case down near the exhaust manifold on the block to the bottom of the black box? IIRC it is baffled or whatever inside which separates oil and allows the crank case to vent up to the pipe that runs behind the distributor and Ts into the valvecover vent then into the intake via the hose you mentioned earlier.

You should run a hose from where the breather filter is to the intake. When that hose broke on my NX it caused a really bad idle.

ei like the fact that if the ps belt snaps the car will overheat. Because you feel the ps get tough before the car overheats. I bounced the limiter so hard i threw the belt off and boy I am happy I lost the ps before something really bad happened
