Thread: IAC tools

OK on my DET the dam IAC is bad, and i see where it is. Ok i know there are 4 bolts to get the thing off, but how and what tools can i use to take it off. I can get the top bolts off with a 10mm ratchet. But how the f*** you get the bottom bolts off, there is like no space to fit anything

Uh just a regular closed end wrench man any hardware store. 10mm.

i am going to be replacing the iacv on my car also, and i agree the dogbone is the best tool for the job, i HATE the spot its in, definitly not a friendly spot at all

Hey, at least its about 15x friendlier than the air regulator!

im going to be doing both on my car, i can get the iacv off fairly quickly and back on, its the air regulator like you said that isnt fun

Haha yea I have to do that myself but I'm actually thinking up an entire idle system redesign. I want to try running a single hose straight to the mani where the IACV goes and replace the IACV with just a plate with hose fitting. Planning to use an electronic boost control valve to regulate air flow too to account for cold starts and warm operation (going to relay it to the switch for my rad fans). This is all coming about because I am constantly pissed off at my car's poor idle hahaha. If it works well I'll make a writeup for it. But so far what I have tried is just plain clamping down the hose to adjust the idle, which has worked great and is what leads me to believe my idea will work.
