6 speed GTIR?
Has anyone heard of or seen a RS6F51V trans put into a AWD application? Will the end casing bolt to the GTIR AWD bell housing?

I've read that the 6 speed maxima trans will hold gobs of power stock (like 600hp), and an extra gear for highway would make me very excite!!!!

Thanks

It won't work at all.

Well...there has to be a way. It's a FWD nissan trans and is similar to the FWD RS5F50V which is the same as the AWD RS5F50V minus the bell housing to attach the transfer case.

In your answer lies the question as to why it won't fit.

There is not physically room for the centre diff inside the gearbox, because with the AWD cars, the centre diff is in the gearbox, and the front diff is in the transfer case last time i worked on one (has been a while though, i must admit).

Not to mention the design of the gear cluster mechanism is different (such as syncro reverse), and one of the engine mounts will directly interfere with the cable shift operation of the 6 speed box.

The amount of time and money you spend for such a relatively minute gain would be better focused fitting an EVO 6 speed gearbox.

It wont work.

The 6 speed has a open diff style diff head, and the center diff on a 4wd, which is inside the box, is a lsd size diff head. It will not work. Simple.

Evo would be your only, albiet expensive option.

RS6F51A Is open.

RS6F51V Is VLSD. So I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say there will be no room for a lsd diff because they come from factory with one.

Cozzmo I appreciate what you are saying about the cable shift operation...that provides some difficulty.

Evo box eh? Anyone know whats involved in that? Axles probably, custom driveshaft fitting, custom bellhousing.......not to mention all the evo guys run the 5 speed for big power, not the 6 speed.
