Thread: manual tranny mount different from auto

as the title says im wondering if this bracket that the tranny mount attaches to is different in a manual car.

I think they are the same. That looks just like my driver's side, chassis side, manual transmission mount bracket.

The driver's side bracket and engine mount are the same for the 1.6 and 2.0 A/T and M/T equipped vehicles.

Bottom line: Same thing.

then how is that when i did the 5speed swap my tranny bracket is roughly 3/4" away from the tranny?

You might have to wiggle things around and jack up different points of the engine and/or attach different mounts in different orders to get everything to line up. Having all the mount bolts loose but engaged helps too.

Are all your rubber mounts in good shape?

Oh, also, it's important (for other reasons) to have the spacer between the engine and transmission. It is about 1/8" thick. Do you have that thing installed?

NO they ARE different. They don't even bolt up to the same place lol.

so i would have to creat a spacer and theres nothing i could switch over to make so i dont have to make a spacer

use the correct mount. the auto mount will require the use of longer tranny bolts and spacers. it will also cause the bolts to seize up in the lsd cover and then you will be replacing the cover. I know this because some butt hole did this to the 94 se-r I used to have and I had the displeasure of fixing it.

According to the parts catalogue, they're the same (same part number). Wonder why they did that...
