Swapping harness
I'm planning on switching my 96 b14 over to an obdI ecu and the car that I have the ecu from is still at our local pullapart. I was wondering if anyone has swapped the whole harness and how it works out when you tie it into your dash harness. My car is completely gutted so it wouldn't take much work to swap the harness itself. The only thing left on the interior is the driver's half of the dash with the cluster.

Anyone? I'm also guessing that since I'm changing to obdI that I'll have to use b13 cts, o2, what about dizzy, coilpack, and ignitor?? Not very familiar with the b13 set up.

Wouldn't it just be easier to use a jumper harness to hook up the obd1 ecu?

less work involved in using a step down harness. You also will not have to worry about wiring issues later.

yes, but pullapart is awfully cheap and like i said, the car is totally gutted.

I would rather not go cutting on my harness. My ve car has weird issues due to the harness being cut. I will be replacing it with a stock harness I have from another car. I am even getting a harness extender for my aem because i a so done chasing wiring issues.

nothing would have to be cut unless the dash harness didn't plug directly into the engine (ecu) harness. That's all I'm trying to find out.

your forgetting about the sub engine harness as well. can't remember if they are the same or not. I need to pull out my fsm and look.

You will at least have to change the connectors to the car side under the dash by the ECU and the connectors to the engine bay harness. I took a B13 harness and swapped all of my plugs over so that it just plugs in the car and to the same sensors. It took some time but you have a nice complete harness and no step down plug to go bad.

If you know how to modify the harness correctly you will never have any issues. The people that have issues are using but connectors and are not sealing the joints.
