I've got some sort of off-brand shifter I got 10 years or so ago,that is adjustable for throw,side to side,front to rear,and length.Paid $49,it's all billet,and since I installed it,it's been bulletproof.None of the adjustments have moved,it hasn't broken,(bonus)and I've never seen another like it.I'll see about getting a picture,maybe someone smarter can tell me who made it.

Neutral is bad.Neutral makes you not go fast.
The first time someone else drives the car,they look like idiots cause they can't decide if it's in gear.It really is effortless,not notchy,and when you are sitting,the shifter sits right next to your right knee.Very easy to grab quickly.It does suffer from the vibrating madness on the highway.Luckily the wind noise and exhaust drown it out anyway,you don't really notice.

I decided that I want to adjust this short shifter after all. Do I need to remove the exhaust when doing this?

I stood on both sides with boots on so it cant spread when you whack it in the center with a BFH until its shaped like a "m" as pictured.
The put it on ,and shift through the gears.It will be close,but I was able to find the sweet spot where it cleared both the shifter and the exhaust(I ve had ssac and asp headers)

So I need to stand on the sheild and then whack it in the middle?

You can disconnect the exhaust at the cat and pop off the rear rubber mount.Then you should be able to drop it down and over enough to get in there.Obviiously if the exhaust comes off easy enough,that will make it easier.

I was under the car just now. Just looking things over and I noticed the heat shield. It looks like someone may have already massaged it

. It looks bent in the middle, i'm guessing the previous owner had the shifter at the shortest setting but then decided to return it to stock. It's too damn hot right now to be working on the car. I'll wait until October to mess with it.
