I think the advance stuff or any generic is usually recycled, that is, they spin out the molecules that are still intact and re sell them. At least this is what I have been told.

I would be a little worried about the additives they put in the high mileage stuff, but I'm probably just over paranoid. I hate PS leaks

Ok now that I have heard that someone else with a ve has the same sound as me im not so worried now, even though I don't know what pump is on there

they prolly used the ve pump, all you gotta do to use it is notch the bracket where the high pressure hose goes.. i have wondered if draining that "ps fluid" an filling it with ATF would make the whining go away, but i haven't had time or cash to do it lately.. also it seems to only do it sometimes, seems like more so with the warmer weather.. but it does still do it a tad in the cold to..

Pump should not whine unless it is low on fluid or going bad.
ATF is what Nissan recommends for power steering.Check out your FSM,you will see.

I ran PS fluid (honestly, when I flushed the system the old fluid was *black* so I had no idea it was ATF) in my RallyCross car for a year. That wasn't a lot of total miles, but it was putting the P/S through hell about once a month.

A year later I ruptured a hose during a run, and when I replaced it I flushed and switch back to the ATF it should have had. Ran it for three more years of competition with zero ill effects. Planning on dropping it into my rally car, as I'm swapping the engines and it would just be more work to swap the P/S pump from one to the other.
