Parking Brake Switch
Hey guys I wonder if someone can help me with this. I'm installing the Apexi turbo timer which has the feature to connect your e-brake to it, so that when the e-brake goes down the car will shut down to prevent it from getting stolen. I was reading the manual and it says it needs 12vdc to operate, but our switch only puts out 2vdc. Does anyone have any idea on how else this can be done. Thanks.

Well I don't have one but what it sounds like is that it isn't powered by the e-brake switch (if it's really only 2 V). Sounds more like the e-brake voltage will trip something inside the unit to shut off the car if it disappears. But like I said I don't have one, so I don't really know.

yeah the e-brake voltage is supposed to trip it but our e-brake only puts out 2vdc not 12vdc required by the timer.

Well I'm sure it needs 12v to operate the unit itself, but does it need 12v also to trip it out?? If our cars don't put out the 12V and it needs it you could use a relay and separate fused source. Although, how necessary is it to have? Seems like it would be hard enough for someone to break in, unlock the steering and get the car very far away before the timer shuts it off.

I'll measure the voltage on mine later or tomorrow and see if it's also only 2V since my center thing is already apart.

Yeah it also needs 12v to trip it. I installed the unit already and I ended up not using that feature. Thanks anyway

I had my Apexi timer wired up to my ebrake switch and it worked fine.
