Thread: 01 g20 gearbox fluid

just wondering if theres any fluid i should stay away from? i ran redline fluid but now i forgot i needed to order some so i just ran to my local auto parts store and picked up some valvoline said it was good for limited slip trannies.. just needed to know if i should change it out or if its fine. thanks

I believe we need gl-4, I ran redline mt90 and got it from autozone (they had to order it from the warehouse), I think most fluid in stores is gl-5 which isn't compatible with gl-4 (I think, I may have it backwards)

I had the gl-5 in my trans and was getting vibrations, put mt90 in and a world of difference

GL5 is a nogo. If you are making over 250whp the heavy shockproof is all I recommend for tranny life... unless your car is a gutted racecar.
