Pull your cap off your distributor and see if there is oil in there, the one on my ve is leaking there through the o-ring inside the distributor
.
The oil is also leaking from the external distributor o-ring on my car too

I'm voting for the distributor o ring too. If you want to get real technical you could clean everything and add uv dye to the oil on the next oil change.

I've seen cars fail to start because of oil leaking into the distributor.

That won't happen.

The distributor is keyed to only fit one way.

Hahaha, mine does the same thing, Shawn. It is the dizzy o-ring.

You are not missing a bolt, nothing is supposed to be there. random hole.

Distributor o-ring. My buddies cars are plagued with it. Easy fix Shawn. Again two bolts holding it, pop it out and replace the o-ring. Greg is your man for the o-ring. The distro will and should pop all the way back in flush agains the head if the keyway is aligned properly. If not it will stop about a 1/4" or so shy if you have it 180 deg out.

Its possible to force the distro in with the bolts if 180 deg out but it wont be a pretty ending. Trust me i know people that have done this. lol. If right it will pop all the way in with ease.

The whole missing bolt thing. Nothing to worry about. Not the source of your problem.

Mark your distributor and the mounting bracket so you can get the same timing advance when you put the distributor back in. Two 12mm bolts hold the distributor in - one on top and one on the bottom. I always remove the cap before pulling hte distributor to give myself some room. Before you pull the distributor, note the position of the rotor so you can get this in the ball park when you reinstall it.

You can move the rotor back and forth when you are pushing the distributor back in to get the key to line up. As noted above, it only goes back in all the way at one rotor position. It should pop right in when properly aligned.

$3 from Greg V, go go go Shawn!

You can even see the oil is dripping onto the EGR tube from that picture. You can see the faint ring of burned off oil there.
