JDM Swap Questions
Hey everyone. I just picked up a JDM highport DE for my NX. The DE is originally from an automatic vehicle. Build year on the engine is 1995.

I've read up on previous JDM swaps and everybody says to switch over all sensors. However there really isn't any commentary on equipment that might be usable.

Sensors I definitely want to swap over: Temp sensors, tps, distributor/sensors.

THere is some hardware that I wonder if it must also be swapped. Idle air control unit(A.A.C Valve, F.I.C.D Solenoid Valve), air regulator that is under the intake manifold, and the knock sensor.

My new JDM DE also comes with a bosch oxygen sensor. It looks very much like the USDM fat O2 sensor (three wires black, red, white). I looked at the numbers on the unit and it does share some digits with the O2 sensor on my 94 USDM lowport. The exhaust manifold also looks very similar to the USDM piece.

So if anybody has used the JDM idle air control unit, the knock sensor, the air regulator, or the JDM oxygen sensor please let me know. I appreciate any info that you can provide.

I thought 93 was when they stopped making the highport? Well I know most regular JDM SR20DE's have no emissions, so the mani is a lil different. If yours didn't come with emissions you will need a USDM or JDM mani with them if you need emissions in your county. Most if not all of the sensors are the same as far as I've seen. Half of the time the distributor is the same model we use in the states. I would buy some sensors to replace the old ones with anyway. Plus belts thermostat and water pump. There really is a ton of info out there on this subjuct, even a sticky or two I believe. Dig a little deeper and you will see

Jdm manifold is different. If you dont swap the intake manifolds youll have a cel on all the time and its really annoying. Plus the motor may throw the knock sensor code all the time as well.

Swap as much of it as you can. Stick with what you know works, instead of possibly running into trouble once the motors in and having to swap them then.

also i belive that many of the JDM sensors read different voltages then the USDM. that will give the ECU inacurate readings and be more of a mess then you want. use everything you can off the old motor. also if it is a automatic motor you should change the pilot bushing to a manual one. they are ~$2.00 at an auto parts store you can use one off a 300zx also if the guys at the counter get confused

Why change it, I've never seen one go bad and they are all the same whether auto or manual.

from what i have learnt there is a difference from auto to manual pilot bushings and when i did my ve swap and my 10:1 swap the auto one was very different then the manual one i pushed in, it could be pointless but for the $2 i prefer to change it

Im almost positive the only sensors that need to be swapped are the two temp sensors.. NOTHING ELSE.
