swap out the distributor before you screw around too much. SOmeone should have one they can send you to test with, but the symptoms also match a bad coil or distributor. It may be the maf, but I wouldn't be surprised if something else just went out.

My issue similar to yours was the harness-side MAF connector. The vehicle went buck-ass jerk-crazy barely-running....chugga...chugga...bleh. Then...it would run fine again. Rinse repeat......

The MAF connector is not sold seperately from Nissan. You have to buy the entire engine harness. ......

Andreas Miko sold me a clean pre-owned one with a pigtail on it. Problem solved.

Awww shawn. I missed you so while i was gone. And id listen to coach. Sometimes things can seem to be one thing, and turn out to be something entireley different. Could be just your maf is causing some issues, but the main problem could be something completely different. SR's are like a high maintenance woman. You buy them a new diamond ring, just to find out they wanted a necklace to go with it. Ive learnt its not always the simple thing like with my transmission.

My buddy was having a similar issue with his. Would idle great and run great for a while other than topend which was the original issue where it would go flat and not pull as it should but idle would sometimes be an issue.

We regrounded and no good.

Turned out we would wiggle the harness and it would start acting up, unstable idle and even stall out. So we figured something in the harness was messed up which I wouldnt have doubted if you had seen the way his harness looked. lol. Switched the harness out and soldered in the e60 maf connection and it was better but still occasionally did the same thing and still had the topend issues.

So next culprit was the maf and sure enough a new e60 maf solved all of it. Perfect idle, topend pulled like a madman as it should not getting a flat tone as if ignition was cutting out. So if its something thats happening every so often i might say an internal maf issue.

Well, I no longer am having the MAF code after regrounding it. I think I have narrowed down the reason for the bucking and stalling out the other night, as it did it again last night. The connector that plugs into the distributor, if i move the cluster of wires going to it up or down a bit, the car starts sputtering out. I believe it is that connector causing my problems. I hit a bump big enough to shake it up, and it starts sputtering out and the idle goes crazy, eventually just stalling out if I'm not on the gas. If I pop the hood right away and wiggle the bundle of wires a bit it will start running normally again.

Does this sound like it is just that connector, or the actual distributor? I'm not moving the distributer or the plug at all, just lifting up on the wires going into the plug.

ttt I'm assuming it is the connector has some loose wiring, but could this be related directly to the dizzy?? If so, how deep should I go with replacing it?

MAF sensors.... always fun!

Our MAF sensors freaking suck. I got my top end back by cleaning mine, but in warm weather i still have a problem with occasional idle stall.

A test with a voltmeter indicates that the readings at idle were practically noise.
Cleaning it did help some. It made the car um.. liveable.
