Just some fat to chew on... Not arguing, just saying what I have seen in person.
I have a car friend with a GT-S w/ only intake, exhaust, and a stock port matched header running low 14.3's trapping mid 90's on street tires and no LSD. That's multiple lengths at the strip.
He absolutely rips on every de'd sentra I have seen him dig on. every n/a mod you can do to a de aside from pulleys... unless you have a lot of weight reduction, or have higher compression... DE won't touch it from a roll.
He romps on my 200, it has jwt cams, cold air intake, thermoblok spacers, 8.8 flywheel, 2.5" header, 2.5 exhaust, act clutch, and a short shifter.
In the end I still prefer a modded DE, as I have lots of faith in it, its fun to drive, cheap, reliable... but imo mod for mod you won't touch a GTS, RSX-S, etc. unless you spend at least enough money that it would cost to buy a VE in the first place.
