I think mine's a '97. Supposedly the earlier ones had better heads and more power out of the box, but I'm not sure if that's been verified or not.

I remember reading that the later head casts were crappy and needed fine porting to clean up the dingle berries.

could be... but nissan's QC would prob catch anything bad. Who knows, my VE head looks just like my old DE head, minus bigger ports and valves etc.

What year did they start making the 20v VE motor and whats the difference between the 2 other than more valves??

20V actually is still a 16 valve. Better flowing head, coil on plugs, couple other tweaks that I don't remember...
