Thread: Sounds of the VE vs. DE

First post on the new forums for me. I was 91SERious on the other forums. I wrote up a story on how my NX was vandalized after I had to park in on the side of the rode after a rod knock started. Now, I am not sure if I should sell it or slap in a new motor.

Heres the problem. I know the VE is a superior motor and will make more power. But, I LOVE the sound of a loopie idle. I sound of a cammed motor burbling at idle is awesome. What do you guys prefer? I am not asking for help on my decision, just wondering what other people think.

im with you on the cammed idle sound, i love the sound of my hks cams with 3'' side exit on my det.

id much rather have more whp then sound.

but i do agree, i love the s4 lope from my turbo sr20.

There's always something about a healthy bolt on DE... especially a highport DE's sound... something about it that sounds so good.

But your DE'd car can sound as sweet as a sung melody, you'll still be getting spanked by Celica GT-S's, RSX's, New Civic SI's, and any newer 4 cylinders cars with lift... unless you build it, or go VE.

As much as I love the sound of my DET, the VE can sound pretty monstrous. A friend of mine has a 12 sec VE and that sounds nice.

nismo1997's ve **** makes a de sound stock.

his ve doesnt have a lumpy idle, but the crossover makes up for that lol.

actually both the celica gt-s and rsx (base) are a bit slower and could get spanked by a fairly modded DE

i think any cammed motor sounds much better than base, other things effect and attribute to the way the motor sounds like header/turbo/cams/exhaust/cat/no cat/downpipe size ect

Just get the VE and have the cams switch at like 300rpm! The idle will be lopey as hell! Mine hardly stayed running.

Ive herd nicks car too,Its real loud even more than my DE NX i cant wait to get me a VE into my car.Bills come first and il be moving to the island soon so you know its gona be madness out there
