b14 maf headaches
its a 1996 b14 Se-r.
3 nights ago, my car was fine as i was driving home late, no sputters or hesitation just like usual. The next morning i go out to start it, starts fine, starts to idle funny, and when i pull out it skips, jerks, and sputters til it just died. turn it back on, idles for 30 seconds and dies again. sounded like hell btw.
first thing i did was check the maf. i unplug the maf to see how it runs in limp/safe mode. it ran like it should in limp mode. then, i plugged the maf back in, start it and it runs fine....
i drove it around the block a few times and after about 10 miles it starts missing again, progressively getting worse til i unplug, replug, and another 10 miles i go.
Someone please tell me what the hell my ECU is thinking.
also, the car has an safc2, could this be the issue maybe? id like to first try unplugging it and running the ecu straight from the maf. Is it difficult?
if the safc2 install is sloppy(i havent looked, but it probably is), will i have to get a new maf harness?
any links or info on how to test the b14 maf would be great. also, sorry if i sound like a newbie.
