HELP! I think I killed it!!
I got my new MAF in from Jay today, and decided to try to check the voltages from the old one. I used the intake manifold as the ground, and stuck the positive prong into first the orange wire on the MAF (Read 0.00) and then into the white/red wire. As soon as I touched the ground with the prong in the white/red wire, i got a spark and the car died. It will now not turn back over... This is my DD so help would be appreciated.

Also, I had never used a volt meter before, and had it set on' DC Volts 10A'

Ok so the car was running the whole time? Do any of the lights come on the inside of the car? Define killed?

All lights etc work.

Car was running warm idle when I put the prongs for the volt meter onto the maf wires.

As soon as I touched the ground with the negative prong on the meter (Positive was stuck into the 5v read wire on the Maf, the car instantly died as well as throwing a small spark from the ground. as soon as it sparked i pulled the negative off (just touched the intake housing with it)

Now when i try to start the car, the starter turns but the car will not fire up. I just head the chirp chirp chirp chirp of the starter.

- Step 1 check your ingition fuses.

Thanks guiys. Found the problem. 7.5A Engine Control fuse in the box was blown! Swapped it with the one from the AC compressor til I can get by the store, and it started right up!

- Good deal man. When you said there was a spark and automatic kill, I was pretty sure it was a fuse.

When you set your multimeter to read current (Amps), it passes current through it unimpeded. So from, the system's perspective, it was basically just like a wire from the MAF to ground, essentially a hard short.

That's why there are fuses

OK. Well, can someone tell me how to test it correctly?? I have to use my old MAF (Probably bad, throwing a code for my MAF).

The MAF I got in today from Jay has a different connector. Has 92 G20 written on it in marker, so I assume it is for a highport? Now I need to either trade this one off for a lowport maf, buy a pigtail for it, or just buy the correct maf. PM me if you have something, but remember, I AM ON A BUDGET AND AM MONEY ORDER ONLY!

Here is my maf(left) vs the maf I bought from Jay (right).

Also, can someone confirm 100%, that my B14SER MAF wiring is:
White/Red= 5v read
White=Ground
Orange= Positive
Before I try regrounding my current MAF. After the death last time I'm 100% afraid of this wiring, but I need to do all I can to get this car going right. (It's running and daily driving right now as is, but not how it should and could be)

Need 100% confirmation that the white wire in the middle is the ground, before I go chopping and soldering!! Please & Thanks, & Yes I have read the threads about this, but like I said, this thing scares the shit out of me right now..
