I'll look into that v-brace idea. What is its "actual" purpose?

& IDK about taking a torch to the knob...lol, if anything I'd just cut it off and go with an aftermarket knob, but I was hoping to be able to remove it and put it back on. I'm only changing the shift boot and trim right now.

The V-brace's actual purpose is likely for NVH reduction. The SR20 was over-designed with NVH in mind to begin with. It has a lot of extra supports and bolts it doesn't need but to keep noise, vibration and harshness down. As-is, the intake manifold is fully supported by the flange bolts and the two upper brackets that bolt to the head. There's no need for that extra brace at all. While I usually make sure to retain all the extra bolts and other fun things, I have removed the V-brace and the upper chain guide and I will never look back.

Can anyone get me the exact torque specs for the knock sensor? I don't have the FSM & Can't seem to find any good links.

One word for the shift knob, pipewrench, or is that 2 words, best invention ever, or you could try some channel lock pliers,

When I swapped my engine out there was about 15-20lbs of leftover bolts and all of the un needed brackets sitting in a box in my garage that was 30,000 miles ago

Take some speed first then try removing the shift knob. Ive twisted off a few. Just grab onto it and give it hell lol
