polyurethane tranny mounts vs oem mount..
ok so i just had my car up on a lift..and my tranny mount is busted..so i have two options oem or poly..now my mechanic said that with the poly during acceleration the car will vibrate a bit but it will be real stiff..OR i can go oem..now which would you guys recommend..it's a 93' 4 door b13 auto..thanks.

Poly. Definitely.

You'll never notice the vibration (hell, I have solid mounts and only notice them at idle) and it will reduce the risk of wheel hop. I believe they are also cheaper than OEM's.

It's a GA16 auto? Go with OEM mount.

how bad would the vibrations be with a poly mount? that is if they even make one for my car

The vibrations are there during idle and that's about it. Not really during acceleration. The vibrations are harsh, and make things rattle that never rattled before. It is one of the few modifications that really changes the character of a car from a daily driver to a race car. It's not recommended for the faint at heart.

Also, only doing the rear mount will accelerate the destruction of the front OEM mount.

I have all poly on my street car and I wouldn't do it if I didn't need them because of the torque. Yes they reduce wheel hop, but what wheel hop does the GA16 + non-LSD have anyway?

Yep.

Disagreed to some degree.

"Harsh" is subjective. I don't find them overtly harsh. Hell, I can barely remember stock.

I also like the handling benefits. The motor/tranny does not move nearly as much when hitting high-g curves. Car seems more solid, suspension works even better.

Porsche has "active motor mounts" that stiffen up when under load. There is a reason for that. More precise handling due to the reduced movement of the drivetrain.

I have considered going with three (3) poly mounts, and going back to the "big rubber fluid-filled" Nissan one. Ala Dave Coleman waaaaay back in SCC. You utilized poly in the mounts that resist the torque, use the Nissan "big rubber fluid-filled" one that transmits the majority of the vibration to the cabin.

But then again, I don't mind the vibration much and the Nissan "fluid-filled" mount is damn expensive to quell a bit of vibration.
