Intake questions...
So as some of you know, I'm currently running my stock intake all the way to the MAF, and just have a cone filter shoved inside of the MAF housing... Obviously, something needs to be done about this (I bought it this way, and it's been working, but I need to get it addressed next paycheck)

My question is: Is it worth going for a high dollar, name brand system..? Vs using a cheap ebay piping & MAF adapter setup with say a K&N filter on the end??

These are the two options I was considering... Feel free to chime in with better options as well as PM me if you have something for sale at a good price...

Option #1
Combining 1998 98 Nissan Altima 200-SX Ram Air Intake Filter Kit - eBay (item 150521313823 end time Dec-16-10 17:37:08 PST)
and
K&N Air Intake Filter w/3" Mass Air Flow MAF Adapter - eBay (item 280602769862 end time Dec-18-10 17:47:33 PST)

Option #2

& Remember, I am on a budget. So $200 for the good set up is a big hole out of my pocket. But if that is the best option, I have no problem spending it. Though no matter how great the setup, I refuse to pay more than the $200 that one costs.

Why don't you post a picture of your current set-up so we can see what you are working with.

I haven't even been outside yet to be able to look at the car :P

But it's not hard to know what I am working with. All that has been done was swapping the stock air box for a cone filter. The cone filter is just shoved into the MAF housing. Not that it matters, what I'm working with is that I need and want to get a WAI or CAI on it asap.

I would get a pipe off ebay or something if you wanted to keep the short ram.

OK. So cheap piping is just as well as buying something with a nice brand name smacked on it? Reason I was looking at the Weapon R system was the dual pipe setup. Common sense says it would actually work for reducing turbulence and air temps..

Yeah, so just use the cheap piping with a BPi velocity stack or a JWT popcharger. Also, keep your eye on the classified section as intakes pop up fairly often.

& Xzibit can come take my car and rice it up all he wants, I know I'd be able to resell it super fast for 5x what it is worth on ebay after it being on the show, and buy myself two new ones :P
