Wow a lot of tire options to consider! thanks for the feedback guys, I guess I have some more reviews to look up.

Has anyone run the General Altimax Arctic? The reviews on tirerack and videos as well seem promising. In 195/60/15 it's about $66 a tire which is well within my price range. Check out the video..

Another question for you guys..I usually drive at around 60mph on the highway when it's clear out. I know snow tires perform the best at lower speeds but what is the handling like when it's not snowing out and you're cruising on the highway?

I've got an open diff P10 and run Blizzaks back in MI. When I go home for Christmas I'll be putting them on and rolling back down here to the mountains of TN with them on. I love winter tires...I wont go through a winter without them.

i had winterforces and blizzaks on my b15. both were amazing tires for the snow. yes in racine you will need winter tires, and a winter car. hello to salt that eats away your car.

I drove my studless winter tires on my dakota all the way XC from VT to OR last year. Handled just like any other tire would in my opinion, but they do wear faster than normal tires on dry roads.

you get a butt load of tire noise. otherwise when the temps are cold and your jsut cruising, no difference really.

Wish you guys could send some of that snow over this way. The ski areas in N.M. are hurting right now.

They're fine on dry pavement. Just don't try to win any races or do top speed runs. Too soft of a tire for that. I've almost ate it pretty good messing around in snow tires on dry pavement multiple times. Can only thank God that I didn't have to pay for my stupidity. Honestly, I feel safer messing around in snow than on dry pavement.

I'm running hankook iPikes on my P10 and they have been great in the upstate NY snow. I ran hankook icebears on the b13 back when it was my only car, they are H-rated and trade a little bit of deep-snow prowess for much better handling and a better highway ride when the roads are clear. That said, I never got stuck with the icebears either.
