Bad noises w/ video....SOLVED!!
YouTube - Yuck.

The noise you hear in this video is a alternator about to lock up

Damn that sounds messed up. wtf is it???

And it goes away after you rev the engine?

I dunno what it is. That's why I'm here. It went away THAT PARTICULAR TIME I revved. But normally it comes and goes.
You should hear it in person! Sounds horrible. I assumed the worst, spun bearing or a knock.... But those wouldn't come and go......would they?

IN the video, it sounds most prevalent when you have it deep down in the engine bay, so I would guess it is something in the block, but I have no idea as to what.

And I would also assume that if it was something in the block, it should be doing it all the time. Usually rod knock is a much more metallic noise but maybe it is very slightly rod knock? From frequency, it sounds bottom end. It sounds like the piston is slapping around in there but I do not know how that is possible.

Does it run shitty since it starting making that noise? Maybe it is drivetrain issues?

Nope. Runs normal. With or without noise.

I would say flywheel/clutch related...

Interesing you say that. Since I have gone turbo ( still on oem clutch) my clutch has been absolutely annihilated! And I do plan on replacing it after the new year.

This is exactly what I Thought it was before I popped the hood the first time and it sound like it was coming from the opposite side of the engine.

Hmmmmmm?????

Maybe the crank is tweaked on one side and revving it gets oil in there so it stops the noise? Out of all the videos for SR20's I have seen and heard, never heard that noise before. Good luck, I am intrigued.

Let me throw this out there.... started my car to drive home from work...belts squeaked like hell then went away...as i was on the freeway, my headlights started flickering on and off... dash warning lights started flickering too.

The noise is there all the time now, hasnt went away for a few days now.

I have a good idea now where the noise is coming from.....How come nobody guessed the ALTERNATOR!?!?!? Whats wrong with you people?

PS: Clutch still sucks though.

I would say because there is no evidence pointing towards the alternator from that video until you gave this response a few minutes/hours ago...
