Thread: Speed needle jumpy ????

I have a 91se-r 5spd So lately when I slow down or decelerate under 30 mph my speedo needle jumps and bounces . But once over 30mph its fine ! Is it the speedo head or the speed output on the trans ? Or possible cable ? Any input would be great or possible fixes . Looked on alldata and idenifix at my shop and no repair info found .

Cable. Its probably not seated down into the speed sensor

Ah now that you mention it Ashton I did have the speed output off couple weeks ago to fill the trans up as it's easier then the drain plug .

The actual cable inside the sleeve likes to slip down. Make sure you push it up into the sleeve as far as you can until the washer part is up against the sleeve. Then make sure it seats all the way down and that you get the fitting tightened down all the way.

thanks ashton i will retrace my steps and try that out and if this dont work I will try a know working cluster and go from there . this is just one of my million things on my "to do" list before i pull the motor next week .
