Thread: JDM Highport oil filters

Searched and couldn't really find anything. My '94 has a JDM highport in it, which I was told came from a JDM 200SX. (RWD) Possible? Also, the first time I changed my oil, a standard highport oil filter will NOT fit. I ended up using one from a VG33 (Xterra V6)

Am I harming anything making that choice, and is there a better solution? As far as I can tell, the threads on the filter are slightly larger in diameter than the standard filter.

Highly unlikely. The RWD SR20s and transmissions have a different bolt pattern than the FWD variants. It is no small task to make a FWD transmission mount to a RWD block.

have you tried a lowport filter? I know it's a long shot but I've seen a USDM lowport filter on a USDM highport before...

I am pretty sure all the JDM highports use the lowport filter....at least the ones made after 95-96 do.
Look on the coolant neck.If it hasn't been changed,I bet the production date is after 95.
I think they did that so all the filter for sr20 motors were the same worldwide after 95...just a guess.

All the JDM highports that I've seen use the lowport filter. But the lowport P10's(94-96) use the older style filter.

I'll try a lowport filter next time. I'll also check the production date later tonight.

when i swapped out my first jdm highport, i had to use a lowport filter

I just realized that my first problem with the oil filter came when I bought one from Nissan for a 1994 SE-R, and it didn't fit. So the lowport filter didn't work.

my det uses a b13 se-r oil filter.
