Opinions on exhaust setup
Basically, I'll be trying to get a 3" exhaust that is as quiet as possible.

My thoughts:

3x Magnaflow silencer for the center section (no cat needed), quiet rear muffler.

Will the 3 Magnaflow silencers be better than 1?

Any suggestions for a quiet rear muffler (heard something about a butterfly valve?)?

Stock exhaust with one of these should do the trick QTP » Electric Exhaust Cutouts

Heh, I don't think that's silent enough for a DD :P.

By the way, it's for an SR20VE+T (well, it will be someday, for the time being I'll use an SSAC, it's only a temporary header).

i used a dual resonator setup Magnaflow 18" and Vibrant Ultraquiet (no cat) with the Vibrant stealth exhaust. 3" all the way through. it's pretty quiet on idle. gets a lot louder in the higher rpms. however it still has a pretty annoying drone inside the car.

i think vadim has a thread "quest for quiet exhaust" somewhere if you do a search.

He has a VE-T and I thought the VE-T needed the bigger muffler which didn't have the rattle?

Yes.

See above.

(There are plenty of quiet mufflers that are restrictive, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to deal with those. Usually you have to decide between quiet, or free-flowing with the exception of the Dynomax VT or other tricks like cut-outs and such.)

I have posted this before, but I will save you the search and post the info again.
Heres what I did to my VE NX.
Its think its about as quiet as you will get for a full 3" system.(besides the new dynomax VT with the rattle valve)
Since you said you dont need a cat, this will fit.

I am not sure "Quiet" would the right word, more like "deep and mellow "on the low cams,no drone.
WOT cam switches will definately be heard but it sounds good, not obnoxious.Theres no quieting the upper cams completely.
You can cruise and drive around pretty quietly, but when you punch it you will be heard.
Here are some vids. Some only have sound.Remember this is 3 inch and WOT with the windows down.
Inside the car at 50-70 mph cruising is real nice. You will hardly notice it with the windows up and AC on.
Nobody ever believes it 3"...some look under to see..LOL

This first vid made my camera microphone shit itself, sorry

^N/A or Turbo I would go with the bigger spring muffler. I'm not interested in having rattle.

A couple of us are running STi mufflers and love them. As mentioned above, most of this was covered in the search for a quiet exhaust thread if you want to check into that.
