Whats odd is I am gonna spend about 2k myself to get my car looking nice again. Do you plan on going to the next convention??

Nah we did fix it, it was a rod bearing that went bad the next day.

Yep I plan on going. I love conventions, great people and it motivates me to upgrade things on my car.

Agreed. My Classic is simply not for sale. Wave 10K in cash green money at me and watch me smile and walk away.

In fact, I am looking into bona-fide "Classic Car" insurance on it. If I can get it, I'll put a 15-20K value on the car for replacement cost.

Will these become 510's in their long-term appeal? They already are. The Community is right here, percolating along. Still sourcing and fabricating parts for them.

Both had working A/C which is a big selling point to most people.

I would say your car was worth 6k 7k at the tops. Now take the car apart and you may make 10k.

Thanks for the compliments, though it wasn't anywhere as nice as I wanted it to be. Time ran out and I couldn't finish it the way I had envisioned it. For turn-key's sake, the car is/was worth 9~10K. This is all in perspective, though. It's all about what the buyer wants, and what the seller can agree to. (It's worth as much as it's sold for...)

I still miss it from time to time. Just the raw power alone still gives me goosebumps

(sorry it's so small)

Agreed. They're worth more to an enthusiast, than a run of the mill driver.

of had something like 15-20k into it. Sad but true.

I still have a strong passion for these cars and wish I had more in my driveway.

Truth. In all honesty, if the presentation were better I would have seen more money. But if the presentation were there, it also would have fetched me another $5K in build cost, in my eyes. Another couple grand in pricetag, for the cost of $5K doesn't make sense to me anymore.

Believe me, if I had another option, I wouldn't have sold her, and I still would have bought something else to DD. I can't live in the past, though. I don't have any regrets thus far.

Yeah. Its all good. Glad you didnt take it the wrong way Cliff.

Shawn your car is in another category. Your car is one of the few that is worth more than what it cost new.

I think a lot depends on how the money is invested in the car.

Example $300 for some store bought intercooler pipe seems silly to me especially when the same can be made for around $100. Or $1500 for a sheet metal intake that can be made for $200 in raw materials in someone's garage. When the money spent goes towards someone's labor costs I personally wouldn't count that into the car's value (unless it is something that needs some million dollar flow bench to perfect some headwork or something). Or money that goes towards basic maintenance... That is like including the cost of all of the gas you put in the car.

Man... If you guys feel like your cars aren't getting a decent resale value, then my car would be at the bottom. '88-'90 pulsar nx's are practically non-existent and if they are for sale on craigslist, they go for $500-$750 at the most. I've invested more than $5k into my car with a custom swap just so the car runs properly! I doubt anyone would be throwing $5k in my face for my car despite it's rarity and originality.

What we do with our cars isn't for financial benefit. We do it because of passion and love of motorsports. Pushing our cars to the limit as long as our wallets are able to feed it.

A lot of people who ask what I drive always tell me I'm wasting my money. I'm a nurse and a lot of them expect me to be driving some type of luxury car. Instead I roll up with my beat up loud ass Nissan haha.

In reality, all of us who spend so much modifying our cars will never get our money back. That's just how it is with cars. The only ones who will ever recognize the true value of these cars are the ones dedicated to motorsports, not the everyday buyer. Yes... It is upsetting our cars don't get the same rep. Some cars are just more appealing than others. But it's those rare non-mainstream ones that make those seem worthless.

Which would you rather have: the car you see at almost every block or the one in a couple thousand that'll turn heads?
