Thread: Different Master Cylinders?

i know that we can either run a stock master cylinder or a maxima master cylinder on our b13s. how different are the sizes of them lengthwise? (as in from front to back) anyone know? i'm assuming it's not a significant amount larger but i would really like to know either way. also is there any other kind that we can run on our car? if so is that bigger or smaller?

You can go with an Altima MC. I know some use the Altima MC with the Maxima rears, and NX fronts...

ABS or Non? Altima ABS MC is 1" and stock B13 is 7/8". May not seem like a big difference, but the bigger MC on NX brakes makes stopping seem like a conscious effort now. Rock hard pedal, but damn, you REALLY have to press!

i have 95 se-r non abs front brakes on my b13 should i upgrade the mc from the stock b13 se-r one or will there be much of a difference??

Matt, what are the rotor dimensions? Are you using the larger NX brakes or were the '95 brakes the same size as your original B13? If you have the AD22VF calipers up front (from the NX2000 2 liter) you'll find that that changes your brake bias forward (fronts lock up more quickly) which actually lowers your overall braking capacity with the stock B13 bias valves. I do not know what bias the Altima mc bias valves do IF you buy a complete new mc. If you use a rebuild without the altima valves and use your originals bias will be the same (too much in front). The several solutions are: more rotor in back (maxima), adjustable valving (from race catalog, involves cutting tubing), or getting the valves off an nx2k 2 liter - OR buying a new nx2k mc with valves. The nx2k valve bias is more toward the rear, providing better balance.

the 95 ser rotors are the same size just the calipers and pads are different, they aren't really that much bigger i just figured they would be better cause they are designed for a car that weighs more
