Weird cooling leak, I need your ideas please
I have checked all hoses and the overflow bottle does not leak. All hoses check out OK. No leaks on them, all are dry.

When I fill the bottle, it will leak out, almost overnight down to 1/4 inch below the MIN level. It will stay there for a little bit.

Today, it was below that normal amount (or at least it has been normal for the past 3 days). I popped the rad cap when it was cold and I saw very little coolant there. I refilled the bottle again. It will leak out by tomorrow morning.

Looking around, and the aftermath of a leak from overnight sitting. This leak is coming from the pullies side or front of the engine (If we were to refer to RWD engine layout) There is also spraying, such as, a circle of coolant was whirring about in my bay and the bottom of the hood is getting the crusty white crap on it from dried coolant and there are small spray white marks all over various parts and things under the hood as well. I need to figure this out. It is killing me and I have ran out of ideas.

Could it be headgasket?

Could it be the water pump? Maybe shaft play?

My temps stay normal, it never goes above normal operating range. I have no power issues with the engine, it pulls very well for what it is and what i have done to it and how I have maintained it. I have no weird noises indicating bearing failure.

Please throw some ideas out there.

Are you filling the bottle or the radiator? Fill the rad, warm the motor with heater set to "hot" then fill the bottle

Bottle. Done all of that dozens of times, hence the creation of the thread.

Sounds like a water pump having a giant leak. Just rip the thing apart and fix it!

damn.. i'm experiencing the same thing... except there's no leak while the car sits. it leaks when the car is idling for the first few minutes after start up. then no more leaks afterward even after turning the car off and starting again.

and i just replaced my water pump a few months ago... *sigh*

mine only leaks when it is cold. I can drive a good amount of time and park the car warm and check for leaks and will get nothing until a few hours after it has gotten cooled down.

Water pump. Sounds too familiar, mine leaked when cold only. Replaced the pump & no more leak.
