Sounds like an engine mount.

Did yo put in a stock mount, because they stink .If you dont drive like a grandma, they tear up quickly.
Even ES inserts will help them last longer, but you need to upgrade to prothanes .

The rear mount bolts busted on my first B13 because some idiot replaced them with the wrong ones which led to stripped and cross-threaded bolt holes. Make sure all the bolts are there and torqued down properly.

But I agree with everyone else, sounds like the rubber mount is shot.

Prothane or just another oem? The factory mounts are hurt from age plus wear and tear. Find some prothanes for yourself. Either that or maybe the screws that go through the cradle into the trans worked their way out and you have one hanging on for dear life. Does the shifter jerk back and forth as you apply or remove your foot from the throttle?

How old is the clutch? Wouldn't expalin why the shifter seems lower, but when my clutch went bad, I had a hard time getting the car into 4th and reverse. Hopefully for your sake it is just a mount tho.
