I'm not trying to go fast. If I could make less than 11 psi I would. Stupid tiny wastegate. =/

Yeah its weird. They say the wastegate is supposed to be 7psi stock but i havent had a t2 turbo yet on any of the cars ive turbod both fwd and rwd. Stock rwd dets and so on that have made less than 9psi. Most are 10-11. lol.

Maybe 7psi with a stock intake, stock sidemount intercooler, crappy small and restrictive exhaust. Then 7psi. But yeah with 3" exhaust or open downpipe, high flow intake and fmic. I havent seen one make less than 9psi yet. lol.

You keep cracking ring lands on your motors?

I haven't updated my build thread on the latest happenings yet. It's sort of embarrassing. I'm getting to it though. Yah, let's just say I'm still having problems (haven't ever cracked a ring land yet though). No need to get into it here. We can talk in my build thread.

Back to the oil talk.

I think what this guy is referring to is the fact that newly designed motors burn cleaner and do not pollute the oil as much as some older engineered motors. This article is referring mainly to the 4.2 vortech I6 common in newer chevy's. He makes total sense and I know this for a fact. Even the oil life guage lets you know that. I'll take a look at the oil in it and see how it is. We are at about 5k right now and don't plan on going much more than that for the moment. I'll post what I find.

Trust me you wont look back after going to a t3. T25's and t28s were fun for a first turbo setup but you have been turbo long enough now that its time to move on. lol. I went from my engines lasting 2-3 months to well over a year and zero issues with detonation and that was making big power. The sr loves a large turbine housing t3. You can still see full boost by 4300 and have a solid powerband that wont even attempt to fall off until 7600. And zero issues with detonation. T2's are for those that just want that nice power and torque increase but not enough to really go fast. Its when you want to go really fast with them that you run into problems. I finally realized that after 5 motors. lol.

I wouldnt say that. A t2 car can be fast. I make 400 wheel on 18psi and pump gas with a 718r. Ur last dynoed set up made 60 more ponies with seven more pounds. If i ran my turbo to 25psi and race fuel i would think 450 wheel wouldnt be out of the question. But i do agree big t3s are a great upgrade. I will eventually move to a 35r or a 6262 within the next year. So not to get off topic there are alot of fast t2 cars out there.

I change my oil every 2500 in my nx, 3000 or so in my pathy, and generally every 3 to 3.5 in my g35x.

Stratton.

I'm wondering if that article was created just to create more work for the auto tecs

It was actually only 24psi, typo in my sig. But oh i agree to me any street car in the 12s especially a 4 cylinder car is fast. My whimpy little t25 @8psi with jwt s4's went 12.4@110 on slicks, 13.0@110 on street tires. I never got to run the s15 bb t28 at the track but let me tell you at 10-11psi that t28 was faster than my t25 was spiking 18psi. lol. I could assume the t28 would have easily gone 11's, just never got the chance before again getting greedy and miscalulated the MBC and spiked 21+. But yeah that s15 turbo made my t25 feel slow. Still with s4 cams.

The t3 was just an absolute rediculous jump in power which then presented traction problems, My traps were high and as far as highway pulls go, that thing flew like no other especially after the new manifold w/Q45 tb went on and 30psi. Literally no traction on brand new falkens till 135mph. Its fun. The t2 was way more responsive but the sheer brute strength the t3 brought was awesome, that and much much more safe and reliable. Never had one sign of detonation at all period. And it showed with the motor going a year of my abuse with no issues. other than trannies. haha

Anyways T2's make great street cars, power at any time.

Oh comparison. My buddies t25 vs my 60trim t3 doing 5th gear highway pulls, he will pull me rediculously from 50-110mph, but after that i quickly and very quickly play catchup. lol to the point im by him by 130.
