Brake problems.. Help and Suggestions. Please and Thanks.
Okay when i drive next to parked cars or close to guardrails or even in open road, i hear this "swooshing/rattling sound" I dont know how exactly to describe the noise but again just say "shhh" like five times, thats the best way to describe the sound. On top of that, it rattles when i drive on rough roads as if something is loose. My local shops tell me the same thing, its my rotors and brake pads. I am convince its not because i have changed them more than 4 times in the past year. I made sure they were properly put on and nothing was loose. I gave up on it for a while, but now the sound is getting worse. My last option is here, can anyone point out on what i should do next? I forgot to mention that the sound is only on my front left side.

I've had that many times, possible causes- leaking caliper, stuck caliper, not enough grease/lube on back of brake pad
.
What I do about it, not much, its not that big of a problem unless there is oil or brake fluid contamination, as long as everything looks fine, no leaks, good meat left on pad, and the caliper not stuck (visibly more wear on one of the 2 pads), I wouldn't worry too much,
.
I just did brakes on my car last month and my front right inner pad is oil soaked from oil spray off of my timing chain, that side of my brakes are making that sound because of the pad sticking to the rotor with the oil

thank you. that helped a lot. i dont have a leaky caliper. i removed my tire and checked the area like 3 times already, and it seems fine. it just bothered me hear the sound before because i thought something has going bad.

i used to hear it too, when i went from stock wheels to aftermarket ones that were a little bit more 'open' so to speak. so i heard them chopping up the air. this was going from 6 spoke to 5 spoke slipstreams.

yeah i started hearing the sound when i went from stock b13 wheels to aftermarket 10 spokes, but it didnt occur right after my swap, it took another 6 months till it started to make the noise. really gets annoying lol.

and what do you mean by backing plates?

the water/debris shield behind the rotors. are they stiff and clear, or wobbly causing it to barely touch the rotor? if anything, bend them so they are clear for sure, and see if that fixes your problem.

Check the split pin in the cv joints, mine rattled against the little castle lock, i put a lump of sealant on them, got rid of the rattle. I come across that heaps on customers nissan's, usually they don't even notice.
