Help needed with clutch issue B13
OK here is the deal; I rebuilt my tranny's 5th gear and while I was in there I decided to replace the clutch since it was out and now once it is back together the clutch must be adjusted all the way down for it to even work. it was not this way before. if i try to adjust the clutch it doesn't seem to disengage and when I push the pedal I cannot get it in gear. I really don't want to take it back out but I don't want to mess anything up either. the cable is almost all the way at the end of the adjuster screw. it also sounds like it may be slipping when i down shift

please help

see if you can get more adjustment out of the cable. One thing I do is bore out the hole on a large washer and stick it on the cable where it goes through that black bracket. That will allow some more adjustment if its catching on the floor and you have the cable all the way out.

I don't think the issue is with the cable I can adjust the cable just when I do the clutch stays engaged for some reason. the cable was relatively new and not changed during the change over

I think you put the throw out bearing in backwards

did you happen to have bent the fork that moves the throwout bearing? That or the bearing somehow is sitting too far from the pressure plate springs.

Hi

The problem might be with the clutch cable as it might have broken and that's the reason the clutch is not disengaging. I suggest you to replace the clutch cable with a new cable.

adhesive tape

I double checked everything when I was putting the tranny back in and the cable can't be the issue is has only been used for maybe a month the throw out bearing I thought was installed the same as I took it out does anyone have a pic of the bearing so I can see how it should be??

I doubt the tb is backwards. It could've popped off the clips though and might not be working correctly. Is the cable tight? Could just be the new clutch is thicker, needing more cable length to work on it.
