I don't know what you'd "lose" as I went from complete OE exhaust one week to 2.5" all the way back and a SSAC header & STi muffler and a 23"x4" magnaflow resonator... so I had gains..

what are you replacing with the STi?

nah, not yet. I don't really have anything quality to record with. It is quiet though.

my current setup is 2.5" ebay header, no cat, thrush 28" overall length glasspack for resonator (bad choice on my part) 2.5 crush bent piping from header back and a magnaflow oval bodied straight thru muffler with 2.5 inlet and outlet. 4" overall tip. i think i got the muffler from ebay a few years ago but im not entirely sure its a true magnaflow as i didnt pay anywhere near what they go for now but it came in a magnaflow box with all specs and has magnaflow on the muffler tip itself which is actually welded to the muffler body so i dont know for sure

my thrush "resonator" ticks when i shut the car off it sounds like a ticking timebomb..lol. its quite annoying actually, the magnaflows dont do that do they? 2hp loss?...man i have to buy a NOS sticker now to make up for that..

the ticking is just the metal heating up from the engine. i had the same thing on my dsm, it was annoying but its only after you shut it off so it doesnt really matter

yeah i figured that but it just sounds like a clock ticking really annoying but oh well ill get used to it i guess, the only thing i like about this exhaust is when i shift really fast at high rpms it lets out a little exhaust backfire and it grumbles when i engine brake from high rpms also. sounds mean but loud as all hell when im cruisin

STi is a 2.5" system. Its pretty good for flow. I put an STi catback on the Forester. Its pretty well regarded as an upgrade for boosted Subarus so I'd imagine its not a flow impediment on an NA SR20. imo it could be fine for a low boost T25 setup as well.
