yeah i guess it would be easier for me to get by since im a state/emissions inspector but they have a webcam that monitors the inspectors sometimes. and you never know when they are watchin u....other wise i would not hesitate to plug into a diff car and run it thru.

o wow thats serious. In New York outside of NYC, only cars 96 and up have to go through emissions. Luckily I have a 95. The test is plugging the car into the computer through the diagnostic port while its running. If I had a 96, I would be completely screwed unless I plugged it into a different car. I would fail the visual test too with no cat or pretty much any emissions equipment, luckily I do my own inspections.

yeah we dont test anything older than 96 either but mines a 99 with a 96 engine and electronics i wouldnt pass visual either but like i said i too am an inspector, i feel like a hypocrite sometimes when i fail people for no cats and stuff when i dont have one but when all the ricers come around with no cats and emissions crap, i fail the shit outta them because i have the power.

The 1996 stuff is government OBD II stuff. In 1996, the US Government made OBD II a requirement on most if not all commercial passenger vehicles. Hence this testing. Even though Nissan had ODB II cars in 1994, the testing requirements only go back to 1996 vehicles! Neat stuff when I found out about it because, I too, own a 1995 car!
