in mo we have a machine that plugs into the data link connector and reads engine rpm, battery voltage, and scans for codes in the computer. even having the bulb burned out for the cel fails emissions here. the only way around it is to plug it into another car. may be my only option if it comes to it. oh by the way when you guys use the b15 clutch on a 96 n/a de do you use a dealer friction disc?, i know its supposed to be double sprung but when i look at exedy or other oem replacements they all have the same part number for basically all the sr20s. i didnt feel like starting another post and i just searched thru like 100 pages

I'd hate to live in a state with no emissions. You can smell them here in Oregon if you're anywhere near a major road.

California is overrated in my opinion. And the cost of living there is insane. Lots of desperate lower class folk there because of that. Not good!

^ well personally i am glad that we have no emissions here in ohio, i didnt feel it was right the ammount of people living in ky with no emissions and working in ohio, it didnt make sense to me why should ohioans have to go through the missions process just to have people in ky come over here with no emissions. its not that you could tell a difference or not it was the fact that emissions wasnt that cheap and every car you buy needed a e check and me personally i have had a bit of cars some legal some not and it just seemed like a waste of money

Out here in Oregon, the emissions tests are $26 for an obd2 car. The check stations are ran by the states also... And quick!

The main reason is because emissions equipment cuts 90% ( or more, if you have PZEV ) of what's considered 'harmful emissions'. Ever been behind an old tuned Honda that smells like a city bus?

I guess it's different if you live in an area like i do where people are walking/bicycling all over the place. I don't want to breathe that crap in. I get serious problems when i'm exposed to that for long enough :|

2 years ago I mannaged to get my DET to pass the emissions test by replacing the DET injectors by SE-R injectors (if you do this dont even think boost, its for emissions only) and lowering the afc a lot, and bought a brand new catalytic converter...
Last year, I had S4 cams this time, and even with the SE-R injectors it didnt got any close to passing the test so I said Fck it, and payed someone who works there to put the same emissions as the car in front of me, and Im doing the same this month... 740cc injectors + S4 cams is really not emission friendly...

In PA, you need to register every year and get an inspection along with emission, every year. To skip emissions, I only drive "under 5,000 miles a year". That gets me exempt from emissions testing.

^ thats pretty cool you can do that, but it sucks it limits your ability to drive your car, but if its not your daily then its not that bad, hell ive only drove my b13 about 10k miles in a little over 4 years lol. but its not my daily so its ok.

I only did this particular "charade" once and that was this past year. It was because I was broke and had a friend form high school pass my car using this method. Last year, I went to Pep Boys and once I saw how the fuck head of a reject of a technician drove my car, I will not allow that to ever happen again. I bet he had some fun with it out on the road, fucking prick.

The past 4 years, I used my dad's Nissan dealership to do a real emissions test, using the sniffer and roller dynos. Paid $4 and some change for the stickers and that was all. I will continue to use that method, now that he got his job back this past week. The car passes every time, even with PA's fairly stringent emissions.

I do not drive my car less than 5,000 miles a year, it IS my daily driven car!
