Does anyone have experience with a universal clutch alignment tool?
As stated, I need one of these fairly soon and none of the major auto part stores in the area carry the alignment tool, such as Advance Auto, Napa, Pep Boys, and Autozone. They do not even stock them which surprises me because other members have stated they got theirs from one of these stores. Napa carries a universal one for $30. Suggestions Please.

I've got a spare lying around somewhere, if I can find it pay me shipping and it's yours. **** $30, that's a ripoff.

I got stuck and had to use a universal one once. The all-metal one from Pepboys works. At least I was able to use it with the VW too, that dulls the pain of the $35 purchase.

Just dont even bother using an alignment tool. Just eye it out. All you have to do is eye it and then look at the disk and see if it comes even with the end of the pressure plate all the way around, even if it doesnt come even being some are a little smaller than the pressure plate surface just make sure there is an even gap all the way around the clutch and then after you tighten it all down then eye it again. It doesnt have to be 100% perfect. Just close.

Ive never used an alignment tool in the prob 20 times ive done clutch jobs on all types of cars. Most of the time because the kits didnt come with them for some odd reason. but hell as long as its close enough to get the tranny back on then your good being the moment you press the clutch down the disk will align itself. The only time i would ever use an alignment tool is if i did a twin disk clutch. Then you need it, and i know for a fact those kits come with one because it would be impossible to align all the disk splines perfectly without one.
