Thread: Need to buy new throttle cable - Best Cable for hiding?

Just installed mine :

• B15 Cable
• B13 SE-R
  

Man this was a pain in the ass my hands got so damn cut up and although it cleaned up the bay alot and mounted up fine the backing plate under the dash the only way it works is if its all the way extended and I even moved the bracket back a bolt whole ( AVENIR Bracket )

Does this look normal to you for a B15 cable in a B13 highport ( avenir )



Now I will note that to get clearance for putting in the cable I removed the gas pedal.



I had to bend that top part for it to fit but I figured thats just cause its made for a B15 the other way
it looks like it would just stick out way left and be touching nothing on the pedal.



What I believe is one of two things happened.

• My cable bracket is upside down ( leaning towards ) looking for a stock picture.
  
• I need a diff bracket
  

Any help would be greatly appreciated it, Fully extended like this it feels like the pedal is correct.
But since my car is not running I am not sure.

From the looks at this FSM picture it looks like the cable bracket is upside down, but I fail to see that this would matter?



Any ideas?

I always use the plate for the car it is going in and never have problems.

I didn't see a way to even swap the plates. I would of done that but didn't seem possible.

Ugh I hope I don't have to now rebuy a used cable for this part I threw out

I dont remember for sure but im sure it slides off somehow. Ill try to look when i get home.

Something that may be helpful for mizing different engine/manifold combinations...

I recently installed an O2 manifold that was designed for a B14 on my B12. I was trying to figure out which cable to use and I ended up just modifying the B12 cable. It was super easy and worked great.

I bought one of these (way longer than you really need):

Buy Dorman - Help Brake Cable Repair Kit Universal 21119 at Advance Auto Parts

and one of these variety packs:

Brass Cable Stops for Wire Diameters 1/16" to 1/8" by Dorman - Help - part# 03336

All I had to do was:

Cut the ends off the old B12 cable and pull it out (leaving the sheath)
Go ahead and mount the sheath on the cable bracket
Cut the "ball" ends off of the new cable
Use the pedal side stoppers from the cable kit (rubber and metal disks)
Lube it up with cable lubricant
Feed it through the sheath from inside the car
Be sure the tb is closed and the line is snug on the pedal end
Line it up to see where you need to cut the cable on the tb end
Modify the appropriate sized stop for the throttle body end (it is made for a smaller cable, so just enlarge the cable hole)
Trim the cable and install the modified stop

Anyhow, that's all there is to it. Maybe that will help somebody out.

Def good info thank you, Im hoping to just figure out why this has to be configured like this to work. It almost appears like I did something wrong as I heard B15 cables were plug and play. It fits and feels fine like this but something doesn't seem right. Its on its last threads to line up properly.

Well, I don't know much about the B15 cable, but I have something else that may help. When I did the highport swap in my b14, I knew the cable wouldn't work, so I ended up making my own bracket and a spacer to get everything lined up. Judging by the picture above, you're pretty close. You could probably space out the pulley assembly to get it lined up:
