maf sensor
so how much of a restriction do you think the factory maf sensor is on the intake for a lowport?, the aluminum bodied one. has anyone ever flow tested it, it doesnt seem to be a very good design, the one out of my 1.6 was a straight flow thru design while this one has a giant change in size inside it. i searched and found no threads on changing maf sensors on n/a engines unless it was vvl but if i missed something flame away its the only way ill learn..lol

Well, it is not the first part you want to replace performance wise.

It holds up very well for a long time.

i agree really they are a huge restriction, alot of people make great numbers with factory mafs. personally i run a map sensor which i guess would be the ultimate to do away with the mmaf all together as far as a restriction goes.

but really you can make gobs of power with the factory maf

i agree with the restriction theory but its a curse all nissan owners that just tune the factory ECU have to carry. From i have heard theres no way to exchange it for a MAP sensor or any other without making a new harness and Aftermarket ECU. So we have to deal with that :S

If the engine is stock, I do not see a point in changing it. I changed mine just recently only because I got cams and a 3 inch intake with a 2.5 inch exhaust. I would prefer to go to a MAP sensor to eliminate the MAF but this is fairly cheap. MAF's are starting to annoy me.

I do not think your current setup would warrant a new MAF but that is my opinion.

Going map involves an entirely different type of ECU. One that you preload the "cells" in the program which the car takes all sorts of things into account to get the best combustion possible in all those driving situations one would encounter.

not even with stickers?.lol..yea i didnt think so either but man that thing looks restrictive. i was just curious about the flow rating of it. i think ill stick with a maf system, it could be worse at least we dont have vane air flow sensors.

I have seen the stock MAF support a 240SX with 299whp.
