Guess what dudes.

My tires were *shot* from the previous owner's lack of maintenance, obviously the shocks were blown for a really long time! That's what was causing the funny noise; epic cupping. Now i have to get new tires because these ones are too far gone.

It was the axle. I asked napa for a re-manufactured axle, gave them my originals, and what did i get... a new GCK axle. fail!

So i got a replacement set of axles from Napa the other day. They were both remans. Passenger side had a balance shaft on it, driver's side didn't. This was a good thing because the original set i got had a no balance shaft on the passenger side and a balance shaft on the driver's side.

So we install the passenger side and whaddya know. Vibration is 100% gone.

I am happy to be done with axle roulette. All in all for what i paid, i could have got two raxles installed. Sigh. Oh well!

So what did we learn? first off, parts store axles suck. Second off, axles with balance shafts seem to be a good thing.... don't install an axle that doesn't have one. Ones without are cursed

LoL.. that's what I thought my problem was, I had Falken 512's on there, and they were the first thing I replaced from the noise.. I thought it was cupping from uneven wear... then I replaced my axles and lastly I replaced my rear wheel bearings, which in my case ended up getting rid of my whuump whuump whuump sound.. lol

wow thats odd.. i have both front new axles and mine doesnt vibrate at all and they dont have that vibration dampner.. it did vibrate at highway speeds due to bad wheel bearings but now thats all gone. good thing u got it solved

Hmm :O ... wheel bearings can cause cupping?

None of mine seem to be making any audible noise. So frankly i haven't given them a look.

Who said wheel bearings caused tire cupping??

Another case of misunderstanding!! Lol

the noise we were describing could have been a few things, cupped tires, bad wheel bearings or worn axles...

Ah i see. you didn't check your tires for actual cupping. You meant that it sounded like cupped tires.

Mah bad.

I wish i had pics. But i'll tell ya this.

On each axle, there should be a black rubbery doodad, about an inch wide and an inch tall, roughly in the middle of each axle. That's the dampener.
