Entire exhaust fell off...
My exhaust on my 92 NX2000 from J-pipe back got ripped off on a curb yesterday... I had half of the hangers attatched and some coat hanger holding it all together, muffler sitting in my bay at work.

Car is stock. Thinking of running a new stock J-pipe, then a test pipe or resonator in place of cat (old one is shot), then running VRS 2.25 or 2.5 catback all the way (SS - Ohio winters). Comments on this set up? Eventually, I'd like to go turbo (T25 in the garage, waiting for more money), so I'm leaning on 2.5. Throw out some ideas/comments/flame and tell me what you think I should do.

2.5 is a good option. I went 3 inch when i was in this situation. I no longer feel that i will go turbo though, so I might end up selling my 3 inch vrs system. The 2.5" pipe is a good in between. Good enough for turbo, good enough for NA.

Your NX options are limited though. More if you had a classic. Research what is out there for the NX. You could go cheap and make a side exit in SS. Tokes has a thread up on the old forum about it. I think other guys have written about their exhausts as well. Side exit will probably be loud though NA.

i agree 2.5 is a good in between but if you are dead set on getting a turbo setup i would splurge now and go 3'' otherwise later it will save you some hassle just my .02

Awesome writeup, I was planning on doing this when I go 3".

I'll probably end up running 2.5 for now... anyone on here ever run the resonator in place of a cat? Pros and Cons?

Got the 2.5" VRS catback today. It pretty much bolts up perfect. The one exhaust hanger off of the pipe running from axle to cat/test pipe was kind of off to the side and didn't line up perfect with the rubber hanger on the body.

My one question is: why does the muffler sit so high? Its riding against the body... I couldn't get it adjusted to look good, I'll try and get a picture tomorrow.

Oh yeah. Feels like there is quite a bit more torque. I don't have any numbers, though. A lil ricey sounding, but without a resonator, I guess its to be expected. Beats open header any day

Anyone had their VRS catback exhaust tip rub against the rear bumper?

I feel like there's better low end response (all motor) with 2.25" piping. And if you're going turbo, buy a cut-out and weld it in. That way you have the choice of being open downpipe, or stock-ish exhaust.
