so when playing with the wires for the coolant temp switch when i hook them up both ways, it doesnt change the way my dash temp gauge reads...the single wire sensor next to the temp switch is the dash temp sensor.

The car has been in my garage and has not been started since yesterday evening and i just went out and turned the key on and the dash temp reads that it is half way between cold and normal temp. Bad sensor maybe? if you take it out and clean it does it help it read more accuratly?

does the ground on the coolant temp switch go on the right connector or the left one?

The dash gauge is reading high because you are using a jdm temp sensor. Swap it for a usdm.

i was using this sensor in the b13 and it did just fine....i guess because its a b14 and its different?....anyways, i opened the wiring area of the maf plug where i had to change plugs for the b13 de maf and re connected them and i also cleaned the maf with maf cleaner, The maf was good(as well as a bunch of other things that went bad from sitting for 8 months lol)

So im still throwing code 12, and code 13. Maf and Coolant temp switch.

The single prong/wire temp sensor is the one that the dash gets it's reading from, the two wire sensor sends sig to ecu

10-4

In the maf wiring for dummies thread in the how to's, it does not specify on the maf plug what wire is the 5volt signal and what wire the 12v signal is. I know the ground is the center,
just trying to make sure the maf is wired correctly because im throwing code 12 and if i unplug the maf and give it some fuel, it does the same thing it was doing when it was driving down the road and idling for 10 minutes(sputtering and not taking fuel/will not rev pst about 1000rpms

On a B14-

Orange is 5 Volt
White/red is 12 volt
white is ground

well i have the maf wired correctly so since im throwing a maf code, then its a bad maf and that would cause my sputtering all that bs. I used some maf cleaner on it but it didnt change anything.

I have a cobra maf but if i used that, it would run like crap wouldnt it?

Try regrounding you MAF I had the same issue you are describing on my B13 couldn't figure it out. I replaced plugs/wires, MAF, FPR anything it could of been and it was still having the same issue. Finally I started checking the wiring both visually and with my DMM. I found the ground wire all corroded and broken. I re-grounded the MAF and haven't had the issue since.

Cobra MAF is a no go (unless you are tuned for it)

If you don't feel comfortable working on your own car you probably shouldn't I am not trying to start anything I am just saying.
