Muffler exploded (pics)
So.. I was driving down to the movies and I was on the freeway and some car was pissing me off by cutting me off every time I tried to go around it... They would just turn, no signal light and I kept almost hitting them (well happened 3 times) So finally they were in the left lane so I dropped it into 3rd and swung to the right lane and floored it and I get up to about 89 and all of a sudden I feel my car feel like a rev limiter was hit and then I hear a POP! and I'm trippin so I pull over thinking my engine blew or something since the car just shut off and I always assume the worst so I'll be prepared for it. Pulled over, called the lady up to tell her I wasn't going to be able to go anymore, popped the hood and checked for smoke, clear, next thing that came to mind was oh well a wire popped off the cap, so I go looking and yep, the ignition coil wire popped off the cap. I plug it back in and then start the car.... It was SOOOOO Loud! I thought maybe something blew on the exhaust piping like the cat or something so I drive @ about 45mph to the next exit (1mile) and get in a gas station and see the muffler... This is what I saw...

Wow that's a first. Did it get clogged by any chance? What brand of muffler is that, so that we can stay away .

That must have been a serious back fire.

that shit looks restrictive

thats a messed up thing, the only explanation I can come up with is that when your wire unplugged you did a huge backfire and the silencer didnt hold up... first time I see that...

I have a constant backfire and when the "POP" sound happened, it sounded nothing like a backfire, I don't know how to explain it...

I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow morning to get a BS muffler... Not sure what I'll get I'm going to do some research on stock exhausts and which is best and then, TAKE ONE!!!!!!!!!! MUHAHAHA lol I might just take a catback from a sentra since I'm tired of how loud this one is =/

Ok... I'm almost positive they don't have any SE-R b13's there so will a ga16de catback exhaust fit the same as the SE-R's?

back end pressure and detonation from plug coming off caused that.

No 1.6L is smaller, just go to an auto parts store and get a cheap (probably less than $15) 2" in/out muffler or whatever size your exhaust piping is

like it won't fit at all? I don't care if the piping is smaller but are you saying like it just won't fit? I don't mind the power loss for a cheap fix... Don't feel like having to get my uncle to weld it on for me =\

nvm I guess the cat is a different size... I'll just have to go and take the stock muffler I guess...
